Motivation and interest play an important role in enabling success in a subject matter. To learn something new from the subject, then you must have interest of yearning for the knowledge. Learning is a continuous process that involve observation of phenomena and creating meaning out of them depending on an individual’s perception. In life, when you are disoriented, you have to adjust, just like a fisherman who had gone out to the sea and little did he know that the tides changed, he had to land in a different beach.

Perception is developed through knowledge gained over time. Human beings never stop learning. The environment provides numerous opportunities from which to learn from. In developed economies, the role of the teacher in learning is to be a facilitator of knowledge acquisition. The role of the student is to respect the teacher and respect their authority with utmost loyalty trusting the process. A teacher is someone who is qualified and certified by the government having gone through a curriculum that is progressive. The government is interested in having adequate human resources to enable it drive its socio economic agenda. The adjustment of moving from high school or at advanced of of forty’s, to university may cause cognitive abilities to be affected. The working memory of an individual will be affected. The curious local dialect should be properly learned and understood in order to adjust to the environment quickly. This has been statistically proven by the frequent Grade Point Average (G. P A) drops by 10 %. G. P. A is a standard technique used by the U.S to gauge student performance.

Studies have shown that a majority of students who join campus are sometimes filled with fear of the unexpected causing them to sometimes wish that they can drop out of school. The changes in the learning paradigm may cause a temporary mishap that is set to change over time for instance the teaching model and the kinds of learning that govern standard education practice. One of the important fuels that help in learning in universities is the abilities that one already has. The people are determined to learn new ideas that they can apply to advance their lives. Doing what you love makes the learning process easier, since the student will enter the classroom with a glad heart ready to receive. The student should be like dry grass longing for rain water. The learning process may sometimes be affected not necessarily by the fact that the subject is difficult but because the student has developed an attitude towards the subject and the teacher. When the students have a negative attitude, it is very easy to experience difficulty in tackling technical or challenging subjects. Conversely, when the student has a positive attitude towards the subject, it will be very easy for him or her to excel in the subject matter under review because it becomes easy to navigate.

One good thing about continuous learning is that you build on the already acquired knowledge so the transition is easy since a strong foundation has been laid. No one is born hating, and that hatred is something that people learn as they grow up. This is the same scenario in learning, nobody is born all knowing, but as they grow and navigate through life, they get to experience different challenging tasks that need their input. Passing exams is not easy without a teacher who guides and imparts knowledge with passion and commitment. The three transfer modes including elaborative rehearsal, recording, and rote learning are clearly elaborated eloquently by Mr. Crook and O’Brien in their book 17) A Guide to Undergraduate Learning.
